The American Dream
Christian Birch: 29, golden haired, blue-eyed, tall, broad-shouldered.
The eldest son, industrious, smart, and practical. He can do no wrong. Christian's shadow is long, and his brother's struggle to find themselves beneath it.
Peter Birch: 22, dirty blonde haired, gray-eyed, fine boned.
The middle son, a dreamer, quiet and introverted.
His interests and talents lead him down roads his family has no maps for.
He is the self-appointed guardian of his brother Silas.
Edmund Birch: 19, dark haired, gray-eyed, average build.
The black sheep of the family and the youngest before Silas,
Edmund is a sulky rebellious youth whose response to being overshadowed by his siblings was to become recalcitrant and lazy. He seeks pleasure and independence at the expense of filial piety.
Silas Birch: 6, fair haired, blue-eyed, stocky but growing.
The baby of the family, with strangely ancient eyes and a stoic expression, Silas's emotionally unresponsive disposition and unforgivingly focused brain cost him the pampered existence he would have led as the youngest son.
Mr. Jeremiah Birch: A soft-spoken man with a graying beard, once an active worker, now withered from the injuries of multiple industrial accidents. He lives through the success of his progeny.
Mrs. Sally Birch: A tall, formidable woman with flashing eyes. She is anchored firmly at the center of the family, keeping it together and directing its ambitions.
